Packing Your Things
Dust will definitely creep into anything left in storage. Make sure that your boxes are filled to the top. Boxes that aren’t fill completely can shift during moving while the box corners and sides will probably cave in if there isn’t anything to support them. Foam Peanuts or Air packs are great for filling space in boxes.
Take extra effort to wrap fragile items separately. Place these things tightly in reinforced and strong boxes. Grab a sharpie and mark the box “FRAGILE” if it contains anything breakable. Be sure to label all your boxes for easy identification.
Each packed box should weigh roughly the same. Do not pack the box too heavy or you may not be able to lift it.
Keep an inventory list of each box and its contents. This will be necessary if a box missing and you need to make a claim. Make a list of serial numbers of all electronics so if they are damaged or stolen you can file a claim with the manufacture or local law enforcement.
If moving liquids, either transfer into a SEALED container or make sure the lid is secured by taping it down, then put it into a waterproof bag, seal the bag then place it upright into a box. Clearly mark the box with arrows and “This End Up”. Also, check which items should not be packed – items that your mover will not move.
Stuff socks, scarves, pillow cases and other small fabric items in holes and crevices in boxes – just make sure you keep pairs of socks together!

Fragile items, such as mirrors or frames, should have extra padding with blankets or pillows.
Spread out weight evenly in the truck by placing heaviest items against the back wall. Place similar sized boxes and items next each other.
